What is Minimally Invasive Surgery?

Minimally invasive surgery is an oral surgery technique we implement for every oral surgery. It involves extra planning before your surgery using our iCAT Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanner to take a highly detailed image of your mouth so we know exactly how to plan your surgery. The extra time we spend planning allows us to avoid cutting unnecessary tissue and causing more damage than we need to.

Minimally Invasive Dental Procedures

If you need any type of oral surgery, we will automatically use a minimally invasive approach. See how this approach affects the different procedures we offer below.

Dental Implants – We use CT Guided Dental Implants as our minimally invasive approach. The scan helps us create a detailed plan so we place your implants in their perfect position.

Extractions – instead of taking your entire tooth out in one go, we will remove it in pieces to disturb less of the surrounding tissue.

Pathology – If you have abnormal cells, that is all we will remove. We use our precision to remove your abnormal cells and as little surrounding tissue as possible.

Grafting – We make one small incision to deliver a growth mixture to the site that requires grafting without disturbing the soft tissue.

Coronectomy – A coronectomy is a less invasive way to remove an impacted tooth because it only requires us to remove the crown of a tooth, instead of the entire tooth. We only remove the roots if they are infected. Otherwise, this approach is much less traumatic than traditional extraction.

Benefits of Using a Minimally Invasive Approach

Minimally invasive oral surgery offers many benefits to our patients. To start, patients can expect to experience a faster recovery time. Since we’re less invasive in your procedure, less tissue needs to heal, therefore resulting in a much faster recovery.

Procedures are significantly more comfortable too. With our advanced dental instruments and techniques, we can easily extract a tooth, place dental implants, or complete a bone graft with minimal disruption to the adjacent structures and tissues. With this less invasive approach, it’s only natural to experience less discomfort with your procedure.

Our minimally invasive approach also reduces your risk factors for procedures. Since we’re taking every precaution to not disrupt more tissue than necessary, your risks reduce.

Experience a shorter recovery time, less swelling and discomfort, and take less time off work for oral surgery.
